We have to be prepared for all temperatures on our trip from minus temperatures and snow to 40 degrees and extremely humid. We will be visiting beaches, jungles, mountains, deserts, cities and countryside - so a bit of everything really. The first part of our trip is colder and we plan to offload same of our stuff back to the UK when we get to Bangkok and the warmer weather.

Zoë is using a medium sized packing cube and stuff sacks to fit it all in. We've found a compression sack for the sleeping bag works wonders. We will be wearing the heaviest stuff when we move from place to place, and we hope to off load some of it in Bangkok and ship to the UK. All this weighs 12 KG. Zoë's quite happy with this weight! She will hire/buy a down jacket, hire a thermarest and trekking pole for trekking in Nepal.
Zoë will be responsible for the video camera and tapes plus she will take her 35mm camera which is small when we can't be bothered carrying Andrew's SLR and all the bits which go with it. We will also take turns to write a diary, which will form the basis for our updates as we travel around.

Weight comes to 14 KG. Andrew will be carrying an SLR with tripod and lenses in his day pack. Andrew's (heavy & hot) sleeping bag is perfect for China/Tibet/Nepal, but pretty much useless after that, so he will be sending it home after trekking in Nepal. |
